Drug Resistant Influenza B Emerges in Japan – Arstechnica
A new report from Japan, published tomorrow in JAMA, describes the emergence of drug-resistant strains of Influenza B. Influenza viruses come in two flavours; types A and B. H5N1, and the 1918 pandemic strain H1N1 are both type A, and previous research had identified drug resistance appearing in some type A infections. This data is the first time that it has been shown in type B strains.
