Gearing up to learn something fresh and new in 2008? Better sharpen your night vision, then.
Yep, according to a study conducted by the University of Adelaide in Australia, our brains are more apt to take in new experiences associated with movement at 8 p.m., rather than 8 a.m. This, of course, is good news for all the morning-haters of the world. Now, if only we could all convince our bosses and gym trainers that this is the case – snooze-inducing training sessions and grueling cardio workouts would be thing of the past in the morning hours.
So what’s with these findings, anyway? Well, it appears that the concentration of hormones that slug motor memory is lower in the evening than earlier in the day. One more great excuse to put that workout off until nighttime – you’ll be ready to master that new combination and you’ll miss the extra calories of yet another Nacho Night! How wise.
