What do remote controls and birth control have in common ?
Quite a lot according to a team of Australian scientists who are trying to develop a ‘remote-controlled controceptive implant for men.’ Right now it’s stll being tested in the laboratory but if successful could provide an alternative to the non-reversable vasectomy.
Made from a specially coated silicone-based material, the implant (a small radio-controlled valve) is no larger than a grain of rice and would be inserted into the vas deferens (the duct which carries sperm from each testicle to the penis) using a hypodermic needle.
