The Best Optical Illusion Ever

Eye Anatomy

God bless the internet. Stuff like this makes my hairs stand on end. The human body is just an astounding thing and not the least of its parts are our amazing eyeballs. Window to the soul, our most primary sensory organ and enablers of the totally awesome pastime: looking at optical illusions.

This one’s a doozy.

(I saw it for the first time about a year ago, but stumbled across it again this morning. I’m glad I did!)

More eyeball info:

  • The eye is the only part of the human body that can function at 100% ability at any moment, day or night, without rest. Your eyelids need rest, the external muscles of your eyes need rest, the lubrication of your eyes requires replenishment, but your eyes themselves “never” need rest.
  • The external muscles that move the eyes are the strongest muscles in the human body for the job that they have to do. They are 100 times more powerful than they need to be.
  • Your eyes utilize 65% of all the pathways to the brain.
  • Under the right conditions, your eyes can discern the light of a candle at a distance of 14 miles.
  • Your eyes are the most complex organs you possess except for your brain.

Go here for more optical illusion goodness.

Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation – I know people here; they’re a great organization. Check it out if you’re looking for a tax break before the end of the year or a warm I-just-helped-out-fuzzy for the holidays!
