Marge, as November’s cover girl, doesn’t show you quite everything; a few things are tastefully left to the imagination. She is also the subject of a three-page spread and an article titled, The Devil in Marge Simpson.

So, how does Marge Simpson measure up to Marilyn Munroe? Up to now, only Homer knew, but her secrets will be unveiled for all.

The publishers of Playboy magazine are hoping that this playful approach will attract newer readers as their audience has been slipping. No longer is Playboy the only choice for young (and older men) to ogle beautiful women, not with the advent of the Internet and the multitude of photos available to all.

Let’s see if Marge has what it takes. After all, Marge isn’t all sunshine and roses. According to her biography on theSimpsons.com,

she also has secrets: She has been tempted to stray from her husband by a charming bowler and was nearly seduced into a life of crime by her one-time neighbor, Ruth Powers.

Nikolas died on Sunday after being punched and falling during an assault on Sixth Street in Austin on March 27. “I want him to live on,” Evans told the Stateman. “I want to keep a piece of him.”

His mother plans to have a surrogate mother impregnated with her dead son’s sperm.

Though I had never heard of something like this being done before, the newspaper says:

“Dr. Elizabeth Houser, a urologist for the Urology Team in Austin, said she is familiar with a case in which a man’s sperm was collected 30 hours after his death and stored for 15 months before a woman was inseminated.”

I’m sure that Marissa Evans is grieving tremendously and my condolences go out to her and her family. And though the advances in technology and amazing, I think that collecting the sperm from someone who is dead is just…well, weird.

There’s a point of ethics too. This child will grow up not knowing the biological father or mother (most likely). And though Evans may make a wonderful grandparent, who will explain to the child how he was conceived?

Sound creepy?

It may be a little, but it’s becoming all the rage. So far, over 5,000 customers have indulged in this treatment that feels like your foot fell asleep – just a tickling and tingling.

The fish at-the-ready, known as doctor fish, thrive in hot water where plants and other food sources are not readily available. Consequently, the fish have learned to feed on whatever they can find, including dead, flaking skin. As for your live skin? The fish don’t bother it at all since they do not have teeth and can’t bite in.

While some salon-goers would view this as a scary alternative to conventional buffers and scrapers, the salon’s owner sees this as just the beginning. In fact, he envisions whole-body fish treatments which could help folks suffering with psoriasis and other skin ailments.

For now, fishy pedicures are only available at the one salon, but the owner plans to franchise. Stay tuned – turning your feet into fish food may soon be on your horizon.

So what is Hair Loss Confidential ? Well, the tagline reads ‘transforming America one hair at a time’, so that might give you a clue.

According to the Press Release…

Hair Loss Confidential will catch people facing hair loss unaware – those who insist the comb-over is working for them, people who think the hairpiece they bought in 1985 still looks like their own hair and individuals who insist a baseball cap can be worn with a tux or ball gown. Additionally, Hair Loss Confidential is looking for men, women and children suffering from hair loss due to heredity, alopecia or chemotherapy where their hair loss crisis has affected their lifestyle and livelihood.

Hair Loss Confidential will show these folks that there’s another way.

After walking into a room with cameras where they’ll be confronted by family, friends, co-workers and the Hair Loss Confidential crew, the unsuspecting subject will be whisked away to a hair restoration facility in their town where they will undergo a miraculous transformation.

Sounds a lot like a ambush to me.

But Executive Producer Lisa Zimmerman promises that participants “won’t be ridiculed but instead helped with their hair loss problem – then and there – and forever.”

The Japanese – an efficient, healthful group of people. People rooted in culture. People who cherish their elders. People who keel over from being overworked.

Say what?

Yes, it’s true. While America is sometimes looked at as slovenly and over-privileged, our Japanese pals are working so hard, they’re launching themselves into the grave. This has become such an epidemic, in fact, that it even has a name: karoshi.

For example, there was a poor fellow, a 45-year-old chief engineer for Toyota, who worked an additional 114 hours of overtime per month (overtime!). That’s equivalent to about 2.85 weeks a month. Can you even imagine?

Not surprisingly, the man died of heart failure, and now the Japanese government will need to uphold a law that gives money to the widow and children of this man, since we worked himself into an early karoshi for the good of his company. Amazing.

The Japanese government also has a national karoshi hotline, and a karoshi self-help book.

So, the lesson to be learned here? While a strong work ethic is admirable indeed, working yourself into an early karoshi is not. As with everything in life, let there be balance.

Doctors took X-rays of Mr. Zarate after he complained of sharp stomach pains. What they found was 17 different strange objects littering his stomach and colon. Among them: screws, bolts, barbed-wire, nails, pens, a knife and a watch clasp. Wow.

Not surprisingly, these unusual delicacies had caused Zarate’s stomach to expand, and surgery was performed to remove the unwelcome objects.

Doctors have said that Zarate is mentally ill, but the reasons he went heavy metal are unknown.

I guess I’ll think differently about all that pizza I ate for lunch today after this now, how ’bout you?

But Ian Usher’s way of starting over involves selling his life on e-bay…

From Sunday, June 22 for one week, Usher’s life is up for sale on eBay with the package including his $US420,000 ($NZ556,000) three-bedroom house in Perth, Western Australia, a trial for his job at a rug store, his car, motorbike, clothes and even friends.

Turns out Usher’s not the first one to try and sell his life on e-bay. According to this Reuters article….

• Australian philosophy student Nicael Holt, 24, offered his life to the highest bidder last year to protest mass consumerism.
• American John Freyer started All My Life For Sale (www.allmylifeforsale.com) in 2001 and sold everything he owned on eBay, later visiting the people who bought his things.
• Adam Burtle, a 20-year-old US university student, offered his soul for sale on eBay in 2001, with bidding hitting $US400 before eBay called it off. Burtle admitted he was a bored geek.

Unlike Burtle, Usher appears to be the real deal. The homepage of his website A Life 4 Sale says it all…

You think you have weight loss goals? Well, I’m guessing Manuel Uribe has you smoked. His goal is to be able to walk down the aisle at his own wedding. And we’re betting he’ll do just that.

The 43-year-old Uribe has dropped an astonishing 550 pounds over the last two years after breaking the Guinness World Record of 1,235 pounds. He’s now down to about 700 pounds and has dreams of whittling down further.

Currently living in Northern Mexico, Uribe attributes his obesity to the American way – a nonstop diet of soda and junk food – after he came to the US in 1988 to live for a few years. He also claims that a liposuction surgery gone bad left him with huge tumors on both legs weighing a total of 220 pounds.

Now, the cause, I ’spose, is beside the point. The fact is that Uribe is currently sticking to a doctor-monitored diet and exercise program which he does in bed (he hasn’t been able to leave his bed in 6 years) is what’s important. His fiance is thrilled with his progress and can’t wait to tie the knot.

We wish him luck in all his weight loss endeavors and hope to hear the happy follow-up news of their wedding.

Okay, this is one of those stories that sounds funny at first, but when you dig into the meat of it, it is soooo not funny. At all.

If you’re in the New York City area and you’re feeling a little frisky, please do not try your hand at ingesting toad venom – a supposed aphrodisiac. This kind of sexual adventure actually killed a 35-year-old man recently, and as I see it, death is not at all worth a few moments in the sack. Agreed?

This toad venom, sold illegally under the names Piedra, Love Stone, Jamaican Stone, Black Stone and Chinese Rock is being sold at sex shops and neighborhood stores. And oh, by the way, it is totally banned by the Food and Drug Administration. Good plan.

True, the fella mentioned above ingested the venom, rather than applying it to his skin (as is the “right” way to use it), but nontheless, authorities say there is no safe way to use this poison. In fact, it contains chemicals that can disrupt heart rhythms. And that’s not cool.

So once again, I say: Watch out. Keep away from the toads. And all will be well.
