DNA, b*tches!

First Human Genome Published

Scientist Craig Venter has made history by publishing his complete genetic blueprint for science (and the darn posterity). Six years ago, a composite human genome map was published with Venter’s pushing. It’s worth wading through the numerous colorful adjectives describing this apparent wild cat of science to learn more about the significance of a unique human genome being published. Already, Venter’s genome suggests five times more genetic variation in humans than previously believed. Helpful suggestion: if you are tired of all your money just sitting around in those annoying piles, you can get your own genome map for $100,000. Larry King, Paul Allen, and Stephen Hawking have already signed up.

Reduced Salt Foods Will Not Go Rancid. Rapture?

Processed foods typically contain salt to prevent spoilage. The problem, of course, is that too much sodium is not healthy. A new study indicates that reducing the salt content in processed foods does not make a difference in terms of safety whatsoever. Still, most processed food is unhealthy with or without the sodium.

The Sex Part of the Post

Would I ever let you down? The sexperts are back. This time, they inform us (by way of two different but equally glorious studies) that men pretty much aspire to be sluts. Also, women like money and kissing. According to the first study, men value beauty in a woman, women value financial stability in a man. Meaning: men are only after one thing and women are gold diggers. And according to the second study, women place more importance on kissing than men, who just care about sex and keep finding themselves in yet another freakin’ relationship.

Unfortunately, the news about what men and women want isn’t really news. Anyone over 30 could have told them that. And they probably got paid to do those studies.

On a happy note though, I love the blog. This is my first time here. :)

Yes, it’s true, but a lot of us are under 30 and have graduate degrees and therefore need guidance. Plus it’s kinda refreshing to hear the obvious again. The validation never hurts. Good material, Sara, as I was starting to get a little too serious with this work stuff.
