Warning: Yawning Could Get You Jail Time
It’s a strange world where a person can end up with jail time for the simple and often involuntary act of yawning. But what’s even stranger is that while the yawner was being given jail time, the actual defendant, who plead guilty to a felony drug charge, was only given two years probation. Interesting way of ensuring that justice is done.
Apparently the judge decided that the yawn was a disrespectful interruption of the court and the yawner was in contempt.
Seriously, you have to wonder what the judge was thinking. Yawning is as natural as breathing and just as involuntary. No one really knows why we do it. But we do. Animals do it. Even babies in the womb do it.
And as everyone knows, it’s pretty contagious. You see, or even hear, someone else yawning and nine times out of ten, you’ll be yawning yourself within a second or two.
But there was no report of that happening in this court which is probably just as well as it might be ended up with the jail being full of yawners.
