Jewelry and Beading

A Blank Bead Board

I’’m working on my zillionth draft of a project proposal for school, and it occurred to me today as I was staring at the Word page on my screen that a blank page is a lot like a blank bead board. Both can be very intimidating. Even when you think you have a design in your head or the words are swimming around in your brain, when you actually face them, start to construct the jewelry piece or the writing project, it doesn’t always come as easily as you think it might.

You have to spread the beads out on the board (or type some words out on your page) and then move them around, look at them, move them around some more until you are satisfied. Sometimes it’s even a good idea to walk away for awhile and come back for another look, a fresh perspective.

I’’m going to think about this today as I work on my latest proposal draft, try to approach it like I’m working on a bead board and see what happens.

If you’’d like some tips and ideas about what a bead board is used for and how to use one in your own beading design work, I’ve got an article you might find helpful called How to Use a Bead Board.
