Doohickies & Such is exactly what the tag name says…ALL THINGS CRAFTY. I love to be creative starting first with scrapbooking (my first passion) and then venturing out into jewelry making (and soon to other types of crafts…just check out the categories in my store).

The store’s name came from a word my dad would mention every now and again when I was little…doohickies. And then I started thinking of other names he would say that meant basically the same thing and viola…that’s how the categories to my store came about.

As for the contents in the store….scrapbook embellishments and tags buttons and jewelry…just a taste of all things crafty.  Lately I love making some jewelry. Walking into a jewelry store makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. So many possibilities! I love the bright colors the textures the designs of the beads. I myself do not wear jewelry (other than my wedding band) but I one day would love to wear jewelry like the ones that I make for my store. I guess this is my way of making up for it. I don’t wear any special uniforms or have special outfits for work because my work is being at home with my children and caring for the house, a stay-at-home mom. I don’t think that these pieces would look good in my ‘house clothes’!   LOL

The things that inspire me: for scrapbooking it would be the time of the year the seasons/events and then the colors of course. I love colors that pop texture and bling.  For my jewelry it’s just what strikes me when I go bead shopping. I love silver and unique looking beads. Either the shape or the style of the bead is what I look for. When I sit in front of my beads and bead board I just start placing the beads here and there until I feel it’s worthy of being a necklace bracelet or earring. If I can see myself wearing it then I make it.
