Jewelry and Beading

Carol Duvall Video on Demand

c-duvall.jpgCarol Duvall, craft guru of television-land, is now available via on demand videos at HGTV.com. The Carol Duvall Show was one of the first craft show to feature a fairly good amount of jewelry making projects, mainly beads and polymer clay, but now and then there was some wire and metal.

I went over and watched the Beaded Wind Chime, and it has kind of weird because they show Carol, but there is a voice over of someone else explaining the project as Carol guest does it. After that I watched the next video, Easy Luminaries, and with that video, Carol did talk.

One thing  found a tad irritating is the fact that you have to sit through commercials, so it’s kind of like watching TV, and it took a while for the videos to load up. So my advice it to get the first one started, go do something (like through a load of laundry in your washer), and then come back and it should be running by then and you can miss out on the commercial.

Thanks for letting us know that we can still find Carol Duvall! So sorry that she is no longer on telly ‘live’. Hurrah for the internet!

  2. Chris Simmons says:

Sure miss Carol. THANX – New shows lack substance and how many time can you redo your bathroom???

  3. Gail Olson says:

Really miss Carol. Hate all the shows on “selling” your house! You really don’t represent an entire segment of the population – age isn’t a disease to get rid of! Carol provided a place for showcasing and introducing a new generation of talent – the way life is supposed to happen. We need to do more with our lives than “flip” our homes. Isn’t this a symptom of the problems that we are seeing everyday in the news – greed that has resulting in requiring us all to “bail-out” the greedy. You need to rethink your slickness and get back to the basics!

Unfortunately, I have discontinued watching HGTV and DIY due to your program content. I miss the craft shows and sewing shows. Too bad, Carol Duval was terrific and I miss her.
    Cordially,
    Linda Keltgen

    • Hi Long says:

I totally agree with you. I also miss “Gardening By The Yard” with Paul James. I learned a lot of tips from these shows, and they both had such such a pleasant sense of humor.

  5. Pepper Brown says:

I so miss the Carol Duvall Show. Truth be known, her show was one of the deciding factor on getting cable TV. I am an avid crafter and now all of the craft shows are gone.

  6. Alice Scoggan says:

Please bring Carol Duvall back onto live TV. I do not watch HGTV or DIY anymore but do check back on them occasionally, just in case someone in charge decided to GET SMART and bring back the craft, knitting and sewing shows for those of us who miss them terribly.
With the economy such as it is – we are in dire need of ‘handcrafting’ gifts, etc.
Please bring those shows back for our viewing pleasure !!

  7. Deanna Campo says:

Please bring Carol back! I loved watching an everyday person who did not know every craft but appreciated the artist. Here is an update—not everyone is 25 and wants to redecorate!! I work all week and all that is on during the weekend is landscaping, decorating, etc. How I would love to relax, laugh, and watch Carol!

  8. TISHA SWEETEN says:

I thought HGTV was supposed to be inspirational and creative and refreshing with constant new ideas……… but what I see is the samo-samo-samo. Re-read your demographics reports! There are intelligent, artistic and enthusiastic men and women who craft as an outlet for themselves. By removing Carol Duvall, you cut a deep wound and are losing viewers who were once devoted. Some other smart company will pick up on your mistakes and provide a program that honestly teaches, entertains and inspires. If I see another headboard made from privacy screens, or another 30 minutes of the miracle of a paint transformation, I will be ill. Not everyone renovates their homes EVERY DAY, but most people do find time every day for their hobby or craft. Think, people, think! One comment to Carol Duvall: Honey, you got me through some tough times and showed me how to use my inner resources to create something new every day! It’s a shame that HGTV’s shoebox is so empty!

  9. Barbara says:

Sorry to say that I no longer watcg HGTV since the demise of your craft shows. This is not a deverse station any longer.

Bring back your inspirational crafters, especially Carol Duvall. I learned many things from you Carol and hope to see you and your friends back in the near future either on HGTV or another outlet.

Attention HGTV there is a dire need for this type of programing………

  10. Wanda Evans says:

I, like Barbara, no longer watch HGTV. I find no craft shows worth my time. I used to enjoy the diversity of projects on shows like The Carol Duvall Show. HGTV seems to be making no effort to produce quality craft shows, so I have sadly given up and removed them from my favorites.

  11. Alice says:

I went to the HGTV home website and found ‘contact us’ and wrote them asking a question regarding Carol Duval and other crafting shows that we are not able to view anymore. Perhaps it will help bring some of the shows that we all love back to our TV screen.

  12. Ruth Fountain says:

I to am very upset about the Carol Duvall Show. I always watched her. Planned my day around it. HGTV & DIY have really gone down the drain. It is all real estate. I am a senior citizen & don’t care for all that. There are not any craft shows on at all anymore. I would think with the economy like it is there would more of an interest in doing things yourself. Oh well who listens to us old people any way? Just wanted to get my 2 cents worth in. rbootsie

  13. Peggy says:

I haven’t watched HGTV since Carol was cancelled. Does anyone know if you can buy her shows on DVD? I’d love to get the whole set. Thanks…

  14. Joy says:

I miss Carol!!! It seems all that’s on HGTV is remodeling and selling. I enjoy a few of those, but not to the exclusion of Carol and other craft shows. HG could just go back and show all of Carol’s old shows. I don’t think we crafters would mind! We love you, Carol!

  15. maura says:

i so agree that HGTV and DIY are generally no longer worth watching. Designer challenge…oh, please for 10,000 I could redo a room. The days with decorating sense and the best designers seems to be gone when the economy needs it most. i loved Carol and the creativity and variety and her personality! Things you’d actually want to try – including the viewers shoebox ideas. Seems like a special or a show with a lineup of some of her favorite guests would not be that hard to pull off. Hope HGTV and DIY get these remarks and actually care.
I appreciate this site, but would like to be able to search for the show I want.

  16. Rae says:

I too miss Carol Duvall and the Quilting and Crafting shows. I’d bet a thousand times or more people craft then redo their houses. I don’t watch HGTV anymore either. Maybe they should do a survey and ask what people they want to see.

  17. Sharon says:

I agree with all the others who have written in….without Carol and the other fantastic sewing, crafting, and gardening shows, HGTV isn’t worth a glance. I never watch it, but did come searching for Carol because it is Christmas and I was hoping to find the “ornament a day” that used to be on the internet. I also agree with the comment made previously: give ME ten thousand plus dollars and I can redecorate my home, too!
