Jewelry and Beading

Fire Mountain Gems winners posted for 2008 Beading Contest

Lucky me! I’m one of them :-)

My bead-embroidered neckpiece, pictured below, won 1st place in the Pearls category.

To see the list of all the winners (they’re not pictured yet), and to see images of the Grand Prize winners, visit FMG’s website! I checked the Design Gallery too while I was there, and was surprised to find my winning pieces from the last two years in there with the materials lists. Who knew?

Congrats! That piece is absolutely incredible (and this June baby LOVES her pearls!). I’ve made the finals the last three years but never medalled. Plugging away!

    Congrats again, girl!

  2. Cyndi says:

    Keep going, Jama! It’ll happen…

    Thanks :-)

Your creation knocks my socks off, if I had socks on (hot here!). Wow, how do you have time to do your blog with this kind of intense work.

    You are an inspiration!

Barb! I’m a *huge* Firefly fan too :-) Thank you…that’s a great compliment!

Kathy, thank you! Shhhh…don’t tell anyone, but I neglect housework like crazy, except for cooking… ;-)

How Wonderful that you won, Ill bet that necklace took you quite a while to make. It’s pretty enough for the queen of England to wear at some state affair.

  10. Cyndi says:

Gail, what a lovely thing to say! Thank you so much. This piece was a labor of love :-) And I love the FMG contest each year…it always inspires me to try something new.

Thank you, Mary! Maybe I’ll suggest it to HRM…what do you think? LOL!!

  11. SoftFlexGirl says:

I can see why you won – that looks great!

  12. Cyndi says:

Thank you, Sara! It’s a really over the top piece, but it does look really good with a jacket :-)

  13. Sara Hardin says:

I bet it is very sparkly in person.

  14. Cyndi L says:

Yup, but only in spots. I used some a.b. coated crystals, large ones, and those really glitter, but most of the effect is more opalescent, a softer sort of gleam!

  15. Wow, Cyndi. You really do make me miss the amount of time I used to spend beading. Until college of course. Although I do love my art courses, I really miss my beads. You really are crazy. Just wanted to say congrats on your winning entry. (It would be nice to see it on a model.) I got silver in Freeform Expression/ Art Doll category. Then I got a call for a backpage ad!!!!!!!! I do think it’s kinda neat that we’re two of six names I recognize among the winners. (At least Tatiana van Iten wasn’t competition this year, I wonder why?)

P.S. I haven’t started on October BJP yet. :( And now I’ve lost my September blog….don’t know how.

  16. …….nevermind……..click the link on this second comment to go to my blogspot…..I think I need sleep. :-)

  17. Cyndi L says:

Well congrats on your winning entry and *double* congrats on the backpage ad!!! That’s marvelous.

I’m having a great time with the BJP this year, keeping it very very simple, unlike the necklace above :-)
