Jewelry and Beading

Jewelry “How-To’s” – The Good and the Bad

I received an email the other day from an editor of one of the jewelry magazines I’ve written for in the past. The good news is she was asking for an updated bio and photo because the magazine was republishing an article I’d written for a special issue a few years back. Cool, huh!? I’m being published again.

The bad news?

That is so unfair! I think some people think blogging is also giving it away for free too. :(

Yes, it’s unfair, but it’s the reality of writing, at least in the area I write. It’s kind of a catch 22. Don’t accept the publishers’ terms and don’t ever get published, or at least rarely get published. Accept and deal with the consequences. Some people do blog with no other reason than to share, but from what I’ve seen, not many of them are really offering more than personal opinions, which is fine. I read a few of those type of journaling blogs regularly.
