Thanks to someone on my Jewelry Making Forum, I kind of rediscovered a great on-line reference for fashion trends including jewelry (of course) along with other accessories such as purses and hats. Years ago, I had a subscription to Accessories magazine, a trade publication for those in fashion and related businesses. Though it had some good jewelry information, it seemed to have too much about other accessories like watches and sunglasses. Id have liked to seen more jewelry, so I stopped subscribing.
Hmmm may have to take another look at them though, so many years later. But, the good news is that they have a related site called Accessories the Show that offers brief fashion forecasts. According to this site, we are still going to see a lot of pink in the fall/winter, from pale blush to pink lemonade. I especially like the Colonial Suedes and Victoria Needlepoint pallets shown on the site. For jewelry, they predict the Victorian look will be popular, which is great to hear. That means pearls, lacey metals, shells, and cameos. Belts will also be very ornamental, sort of jewelry for the waist.
Now, Im not a slave to fashion. In fact, I believe its important to make jewelry that you like, that youd wear, and not get too caught up in whats popular and whats not. But it is fun to look, and sites like this are excellent sources for design inspiration.
