Jewelry and Beading

Making a leftover toggle necklace

Technique Tuesday!

Sometimes when you finish a jewelry project, you end up with a few leftover beads. Even if the colors work well together, you may not have enough to complete another large project. Or maybe the beads are different shapes and sizes.

Here is a fun and quick asymmetrical little toggle necklace that’s a great way to use up some of those leftover beads. This article was published in the July 2000 issue of Lapidary Journal, and is available on-line at this link, courtesy of LJ.

    I love these “leftovers”!

Thanks Paul! I tend to make beads pretty indiscriminately once I actually find time to sit down at the torch :-)

What a great idea for left over beads. So much better than trying to mix and match with beads from other projects! Thanks!

  4. Actually, not bad.. I like a bit more glitter, but a good idea – I bought a lamp work bead a long time ago and never found a use for it! . I have some pendents from earrings where I lost one side and not the other.. that sort of thing. Love putting the toggle out front – some of them are way too pretty to hide.
