Jewelry and Beading

Name the necklace contest!

finished-721.jpg
What should I be called?

Name-challenged me needs help! I’ve put together this mixed media necklace, using some of my friend Cindy Gimbrone’s fabulous lampwork beads…and now it needs a name. I emailed Cindy, and it seems that she is just as pathetic as me when it comes to naming stuff. So here’s what we decided to do: We’re having a necklace naming contest!

*** FREE STUFF ALERT ***

Just leave your suggestion on either this post or on the post on Cindy’s blog, Cindy Gimbrone Beads, and next week we will pick a winner. The winner gets a pair of free beads made by Cindy…you don’t want to miss out on this! From her Organic Glass Links collection:

  1. Well, I’m a Moody Blues fan and I think Key to the Kingdom would be a good name. It was the first thing that popped into my head and I’m not good at naming things!

  2. Candace Parker says:

    The necklace has a mysterious yet gentle quality. I would call it: ” Mystic Magic “

  3. Empy says:

    It’s a lovely piece. When I first looked at it, the word Heirloom stuck in my head. So my suggestion is: Heirloom Chic.

  4. sharon mehalof says:

    I think it should be called The key to my Jewels Thabk u sharon

  5. Kathy Mary says:

    Two ideas come to mind.. one is the key to my heart.. “Heart’s key?” – that has almost a spiritual connotation in Christianity because of the reference of Christ as the King of the Heart. (at least for me!)

    The other is an old reference to a medieval woman’s (usually the wife of the castellan or the mistress of the house.) job of carrying the keys to all the special rooms of the castle, she was in charge of letting the servants into the places that held the silver, spices, special foods – anything that could tempt them to theft, etc – The chatelaine? My Chatelaine? What about my “My heart’s chatelaine because chatelaine can mean the woman who carries the keys or the keys, themselves?Chalelaine today means only one thing – the necklace we wear when we do things like tatting or lace work – it has various tools hanging from it- mine has one of those round thread cutters, several little crochet hooks..etc.
    It is an old combination of ingredients.. both elegant and functional – I don’t think I would wear it but it a fine piece made with skill.
    And Joella – I’m an moody blue’s fan,too from back in the 70’s “Lovely to see you again, my friend..walk with me until the next bend..” (:

  6. Kathy Mary says:

    It is an old combination of ingredients.
    meant :Odd combination of …

  7. How about something simple “Lucky”

  8. Hope says:

    Well, the key makes me think of locked, hidden, secret things and with the neat glass ‘twists’, I think it should be “Hidden Twist” or “Twisted Truth” or something like that

  9. Texastesla says:

    For some reason, it makes me think of my great-grandmother…that, and the romantic story of Catherine, a medieval woman who fell in love with a King…and eventually was able to marry him.

    Nana’s Treasure

    Sweet Catherine

  10. Dora says:

    How about something simple “Charming”

  11. Robin says:

    The necklace is sensual, sexy even, funky, rustic, elegant…all of these things and more…I like “The Jailer” for its name…making it seem a bit provocative, tempting…or maybe I’m just over thinking it?!!…………

  12. Li says:

    How about “Unlocked Treasures”? It’s the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it.
    Aloha,
    Li

  13. As I was looking at it, ‘Unlocket’ or ‘Unlock it’ came to mind.

  14. Cindy says:

    Hi Cyndi and readers,

    What wonderful suggestions for names! Cyndi’s design is lovely and inspires many beautiful names. I’m keeping track of all of them and am excited to see who wins the free beads on Sunday!

    Cindy

  15. Chris says:

    My suggestion for the name of the necklace is “Belle Epoch” which means “beautiful era”

  16. Rita says:

    I think it has an eastern look, I would call it KEY EAST.

  17. Diana says:

    I like the name of “riddle necklace”.

  18. Marzipan says:

    Mmmm… this necklace reminds me of romance and music so I call it:

    “Lady Violet Loses Her Slippers At The Ball”

    Yum.

  19. cristine says:

    i was going to suggest “victoriana” but chris’s “belle epoch” seems much more apropos

  20. Lorelei says:

    How about ” Locksmithed Love”

  21. Robin says:

    Oh yes…I like that one too!(Locksmith(ed) Love)

  22. Robin says:

    I forgot to say that I also like Debbie’s “Unlocket”
    btw…Are we allowed to vote for one another? And, are we allowed to submit more than one?

    (if so, another suggestion: Locked in Love) I don’t mean to be cheating..I’m just enthusiastic!)

  23. Cyndi says:

    LOLOLOL!! That’s not cheating! You can submit as many suggestions as you want :-) Cindy and I are going to have a tough time making the choice, that’s for sure. We might have to make more…

  24. OK, it should be named “Darwin’s Keychain” for the following reasons: The multiple spirals represent the diverse yet uniform spiral staircases of DNA, the “key” to all biologic life on Earth. The accent beads along the chain show the water/air (blue beads) and earth/fire/plant life (reddish ? bead with floral motif) that are all connected to make our biosphere. Of course the “glyph bead” tells the ancient story of man and beast. Which doors will man open now that he has “the key”?

  25. pam fellenzer says:

    first thing of thought of was a magician.
    how about “Houdini’s Locket”

  26. I’ll go with “Key Chain”

  27. deb schneider says:

    “The Beads are Key”
    or
    “Key to My Neck”

    :)

  28. deb schneider says:

    Oooo more ideas :)

    “Doohickey”
    “Hokey Pokey”
    “Okey Dokey”

  29. Pam Kouba says:

    It reminds me of a beautiful young princess in a castle with the key to her prince’s heart. How about ” happily ever after”.

  30. L.SAVITHA says:

    Wow, a great piece. How about the following names:-
    * VALENTINA
    * KEYDOM
    * LOVE 2 LOVE U BABY
    * ENCHANTRESS
    * KEYNETIC
