Question of the month: Are you making Christmas or holiday gifts this year?

I usually make at least a few gifts each year, but this year I’m finding my energy at a low ebb.
Last year, I sat around watching junk TV and doing dummy knitting. Grab those huge knitting needles and just knit away. Not even any purling, just plain old knitting. By the time Christmas arrived, I had 5 or 6 scarves to give away. But I’m not really excited about doing that again.

So what are you making?
You can either post your answer here in the comments, or even better, send me an email with your a list of what you’re making, a link to your site or blog, and a picture of your work if you can…even if it’s in process! Send it to cyndi @ b5Media.com (remove the spaces), and put J&B gifts in the subject line.

You’ve already shown my “Mom’s New Pearls” which is her Christmas gift. I will be making something for my mother-in-law, but I’m waiting for her pattern to arrive for me to attempt (like she’ll get it for hier birthday instead). I have others waiting, but I’m stuck getting supplies just yet. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to make and photograph them while the recipients are NOT at home with me.
For anyone who missed it, here’s a link to Paul’s gorgeous piece:

Usually people at work get beadwork, but this year I am crocheting fingerless gloves and matching scarfletts for 8 people. It has proven to be an interesting adventure! I am also beading a small panel for my brother-in-law in memory of his dog.
Wow, Judi! You’re being really ambitious this year. Guess I’d better get going
Actually These are Mom’s New Pearls”. the other link Cyndi gave is for “Pearls & Swirls”.
Ok, enough self-advertising.
Oh duh!!!
oh, Duh, indeed. I have some posted already on my multiply site. Some are still in process. Been a slow year, no great bragging rights, this time,
Cyndi. And my energy has been at a low ebb too – that and a hand wound that took a month to heal and a shoulder that aches all the time. (did I mention the sun was in my eyes most of the time? NO, that would lie, I live in the North West USA!) OH -
Knew I was forgetting something, Cyndi on my blog I posted pictures of the rose beads and some old paper beads I made a while back. Nothing spectacular, though! Have a great weekend. Could we delay Christmas this year to the first week of Jan.? Maybe little Christmas?
(Jan. 6th, called Epiphany, traditionally.)
I think celebrating in Jan is a great idea!
I’m going to go and look at those rose beads of yours
Been hiding ends and doing the Kitchener stitch all morning.. so whose good at it and who are you, Eistein reborn, by any chance or is it way off subject mentioning knitting on a jewelry blog?
on them and they are again soaked through. The best way to store them is in a glass with good top. Metal (steel) can rust slowly with the oil; plastic is too porous, wood will absorb the scent of the beads, which isn’t a bad thing if you want it that way… as will fabric or even cardboard (which may be stained with the oil!)
LOL LOL
I’ll have some pictures of none beaded gifts by tomorrow or the next day – hopefully, tomorrow, all my gifts must cross the continent.
Cyndi – you must admit the rose beads are not much to look at .. their main attraction is scent. I poured some synthetic rose oil (I’ve given up hoping I’ll ever be able to afford rose attar, again , this lifetime!
I do wish I could delay it some this year… just never really got everything done in timely matter. I did have that wound but that was no excuse ! love you all, happy holidays everyone !
Well, I think I’m the one who brought up knitting first
I’ve seen rose beads before, so I was prepared for how plain they look (although the paper beads above them are GORGEOUS!). It’s too bad we can’t smell them through the monitor LOL! How about dropping a few loose ones into a wood jewelry box? Ahhhh…
