I love your post today! I’m always so curious about how other beaders work, so I’d be happy to share my mess! Here’s a couple pics of my work area. I’ve got one unfinished project that has been sitting there for days, a plastic box full on unopened beads, but the thing I’m most proud of is that I decoupaged a sewing tape measure onto the front edge of my table, so as I’m working on a project its easy to measure the finished length of a piece. I keep a supply of wire in the baskets that are hung on the wall, and behind my chair is a vacumn (I never know when my seed beads are going to spill everwhere), my beads, my iPod, stacks of photos, folders for my beading receipts.

    Susan,

If that’s what you call a mess, I’m really too embarassed to send in a photo of my workspace!

One of my new year’s resolutions was to get my workspace a little more organized, but so far I haven’t done a very good job.

Maybe after a little weekend clean up I’ll work up the courage to send in a photo.

Come on, Eri, show us your stuff! :-) I really think that the majority of us are somewhat embarrassed by our space…I know I am!

  3. Don’t be embarassed…what my photo doesn’t show are all the bead boxes that I have to step over just to get through the door! Send your photo in! :-)

Well, that hurts.. I am way messier. (is that a word?) tatting shuttles in a pretty wooden box, boxes, a drawer system that needs to be organized, more than likely Pocus, the pussy cat some how making Room for his full figured catness… a lot of books, some Christmas ornaments I need to repair, a lot of beads in various containers, finally tons of hopes, plans and dreams !

  5. Cyndi says:

Come on! We all seem to think we’re sloppier than anyone else thinks we are! I want to see a picture of Pocus in the middle of it all :-)

My G&*! You people are so NEAT! I have a large room in my basement for my studio, and it has stuff everywhere, all over the floor, tables, etc.

  7. Cyndi says:

Come on, Mary! I *double dog dare you* to send up a snapshot :-D

  8. Wow, so many great ideas. My work area just got a complete overhaul..We had flash floods and guess which room was flooded? :( So today I am in the process of cleaning up. I did have all of my beads in plastic dividers (electrical type) and on a rolling kitchen cart that has drawers and two racks and a butcher block work top. I love it and was so glad because I just had to roll it away to clean up the water. The rest of my display material and show items were in large rubber toes, again easy to move quickly and my working inventory is organized in shoe boxes in plastic baggies ready to ship in a dresser. Wow, I am so glad I had planned ahead, just did not think it was for a flood. My work station is my son’s old cargo style desk. I just moved it with everything left in it’s place. Bead trays of projects stacked with ideas and ready to get right back too. Just need to light a few candles and I am back in business! Back to creating super fun designs for Spring. Bring on the RAIN!:)

  9. Okay, I know you want to see what large rubber toes are.. I meant to say large rubber totes! A good laugh for a day like I had yesterday.

  10. Cyndi L says:

Toes, totes…it’s all good! I’m sorry to hear about your flood, but I’m so glad that your stuff was all packed away safely and you were able to get the clean-up done so fast :-)

Hi Cyndi ! I never got back to you about cats and beads. I took a picture tonight with Pocus sleeping on my work table while I was beading – I’ll try to upload it tomorrow. (what a mess!) So glad I found your website, again. My new Ubuntu OS (we call it bunny) is giving me a world of grief & I thought I lost you forever when I reloaded the system.
Why cats? writers like cats too.. cats purr, don’t ask to go out at 2 am and generally like quiet – quiet befits the creative mind. Simple.

  12. Cyndi says:

Yup! Although my two girls occasionally like to swat at the keyboard when I don’t pay enough attention to them… :-)
