Review & Giveaway: Totally Creative online

Totally Creative magazine is a relative newcomer on the scene, but I think it already shows a lot of promise. The sample issue that I saw contained articles by several artists whose work I know and love, including the fabulous Barbara Matthiessen, who wrote an extensive tutorial on creating multi-layered surface design effects on fabric. I also found an article by my friend Beth Wheeler, who shared a felting project.

So what you’ll find are professional designers, whose names you’ll know from other magazines and books, who’ve created projects in all different media and for all different skill levels. Sound interesting?
There were no wearables in this sample issue, but there may be some in other issues. Covering a wide variety of craft media, the issue that I saw was organized around the season and its holidays. There are projects to do with the kids, lots of home decor and gift ideas, a book and a product review, and a directory of online resources to help you actually be able to make the projects. There are many fabric projects that could definitely be enhanced even further by your beading skills!

I like textiles – sewing clothes or things for the house; embroidery; art textiles; and especially wearable art textiles. One day maybe I’ll start getting textiles into the jewellery I make too.
I love working with wire, paper and clay – there is so much to learn…and every week brings more things to try!

I love all crafts, from painting watercolor to glass art and mosaics. When I when the Power Ball, I will quit my job and stay home and do crafts 24/7, LOL
My go to when I’m not making jewelry is sewing! I’ve been sewing for well over thirty years, so when the jewelry muse is not talking to me, I move over to my sewing machine and fabric stash.
Any knid of surface design on fabric: dyeing, painting, stamping, discharging, etc.
Wow, so many! I love to crochet and dabble in embroidry as well. Many others. This magazine will give me even more ideas! Thanks for the review!
What a great opportunity, thank you. I love working with polymer clay, sewing and cardmaking. There’s never enough time for everything.

I love to sew and make things with polymer clay.
I do a little bit of everything, including making art cards with hand painted papers and embellishments crafted from shells that I pick up on the beach.
i look forward to reading product reviews–times are tight and I don’t like wasting money experimenting with products that aren’t what they claim to be.
Hmmm, there are so many…but I guess I’d have to say sewing is my second favorite craft. I am a beginner, but I find fabrics wonderfully exciting.
I’ve been an avid crocheter for over 30 years and just starting to quilt as well. Each new grandchild that enters the family gets a baby quilt. The newest will arrive in February so I’m currently shopping for blue flannel!
There are not many forms of art I do not enjoy. However after beading / jewelry I probably do ceramics and clay the most. When I moved off campus in college I made myself a ceramic set of dishware to use rather than going out and buying it. I also made a bunch of ceramic tiles to make a mosaic on my coffee table. I couldn’t find the tiles I wanted for the design in my head, so I just made them.
Cyndi – Thanks for the review of Totally-Creative Magazine. Our next issue will be full of Gift-Making and Ornament projects; and more from the Disorganized Diva. Did you know there’s a FREE Trial issue for anyone who signs up for our TC eLetter at our website?
