Jewelry and Beading

Run-around turquoise necklace on the cover of Jewelry Crafts!

No, it’s not the same as being on the cover of Rolling Stone, but I’m still pretty happy :-) I’ve got two articles in the March/April issue of Jewelry Crafts magazine, and one of them is sitting right on the COVER!!

Run-Around Wrapping

The second article is for a very easy lariat necklace in an ocean theme for the spring and summer. Long necklaces are still popular, and the lariat is a very versatile style.

Congratulations on your magazine articules! I especially like your “Ocean Lariat”. How do you decide what patterns to use when beading? Are you partial to certain patterns?

  2. Cyndi says:

Interesting question, Jennifer. I’d have to say that I’m most partial to assymetrical patterns, but more often find myself having to work in more symmetry for the sake of magazine articles. It’s just easier to explain the pattern when it’s regular. The lariat isn’t completely regular, but it does alternate small and large beads so that the loop will be able to hold the necklace at several different lengths.

Congratulations! I love the Ocean Lariat, absolutely beautiful. I will be watching my newstands for this issue!

  4. Stephie says:

    Wow, congratulations! They’re beautiful necklaces.

Do you want to know what the really weird thing is? I have a copy of that magazine sitting here which arrived in yesterday’s mail (from the US). I’ve never even heard of it before getting it – and absolutely no clue WHY I have a copy either. Its not one I’ve subscribed to (on account of never having heard of it!)

Obviously, therefore, I don’t want to be in the pot for a free copy!

  5. Cyndi says:

Well that is strange! Maybe they’re trying to court you into subscribing… ;-)

  6. Melissa Lee says:

Congratulations on making the cover! I love the lariat – it’s beautiful.

  7. Cyndi says:

Thank you, Melissa! It was a total shockeroo to me!
