Skully with a Heart

Make Art Monday

My friend Cindy Gimbrone sent me a Skully with a Heart bead to play with for Halloween. At first all I could figure out was that I wanted to use it as a pendant, rather than have it buried (ha ha!) inside a complicated design. So, I started by wiring it up as follows:

I used a plain black crimp bead on the bottom, and clipped the wire off close. I filed the wire end flush with the crimp, and then created a wrapped loop at the top, above the small silver bead.

Tomorrow I’ll show you the finished necklace!

  5. He is adorable! It will be great to see what you end up making with him. Maybe I’ve been in a cave, but I haven’t seen black crimp beads before. Where did you get them? They are cool!

Thanks Cindy! I got those crimps from Fire Mountain Gems. I use them a lot when I’m working with copper or brass…they don’t stick out like a sore thumb the way brighter gold ones do :-)
