I was looking something up in my copy of Tim McCreight’s book Complete Metalsmith and I stumbled upon some really nice quotes he has included in the margins on some of the pages. I thought they were worth sharing.
-
Theodore Roosevelt: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
I think sometimes jewelry makers think they need a lot of fancy tools or more beads or whatever before they can “create” a piece of jewelry art. -
Zeuxius: “Criticism comes easer than craftsmanship.”
I talked a few posts back about jewelry and subjectivity – enough said. -
Sy Oliver & James Young: “It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it.”
Yup, jewelry makers can learn the same techniques, but it’s what you do them that will set you apart.
