Just email an image of your work to Beadwork Magazine, and you could be a winner! Beadwork wants to get a sense of your style, technical excellence, and the scope of your beading knowledge, so make sure you send your very best piece.

Stampington & Co is getting ready to publish another issue of their special publication Haute Handbags. The deadline is Nov 15, 2009, so get out your supplies and get going! Here’s all the important submission information.

How do you carry it? That’s the question Somerset Studio would like to help answer through their special publication titled Haute Handbags. Whether we use purses, clutches, totes, portfolios, sacks, bags, or attachés, there are many styles made with an astounding array of materials emerging from all corners of the creative world – all vying to be carried and used with style. You are welcome to construct a bag from scratch, or to purchase one that you embellish and alter with paints, beads, rubber stamps, ribbons, buttons, transparencies, and more. No medium or material is ruled out so use your imagination to make bags of leather, wool, fabric, paper, plastic, wood, glass, or any other materials that you love. Deadline for artwork to be received: Bi-annually every November 15th, and May 15th.

Call for entries: People’s Choice Awards

How would you like to see your design walking down the red carpet (on someone’s neck, of course!) at the People’s Choice Awards? You have a chance to experience that thanks to a special project arranged with PCA by Kendra Scott. The winning designer will receive a trip to Los Angeles in 2010 to rub elbows with the stars at the People’s Choice Awards and an additional trip to Austin, Texas to visit Scott’s design studio and stay at her chic, downtown loft.

The People’s Choice Awards is the only show voted on entirely by the public for awards in music, movies and television. Kendra Scott has taken her solely operated business to the couture fashion runways and to women around the globe. Her bold designs are regularly featured in popular magazines such as InStyle, O the Oprah Magazine and Town & Country. She feels honored to be able to partner with PCAfor this project.

The deadline to enter is September 14, 2009. All the information you need to enter can be found on the PCAVote website.

Call for entries: All Dolled Up

The Land of Odds is holding their annual contest called All Dolled Up: Beaded Art Doll Competition. Here is a gorgeous entrant from 2007, that won Runner-Up.

This year, the contest is to create a Beaded Art Doll by manipulating beads and forms into an imaginative tactile and visual 3-dimensional representation of this year’s theme: Earthen Mother. The grand prize this year will be a $1000 gift certificate for the Land of Odds.

Call for entries: Stringing Magazine

Summer Challenge Title: Magical Forest
Deadline: June 8, 2009

Challenge Rules: One entry per person, please (so send us your best work!). Submissions must be of the type you would see in Stringing magazine—in other words, projects created using simple stringing, crimping, wireworking (simple loops, wrapped loops, jump rings), and simple knotting techniques. If in doubt, see Stringing 101 (it’s in every issue of Stringing) for a list of acceptable techniques. Projects created using beadweaving or other non-stringing techniques (such as netting; peyote, brick, right-angle weave, and square stitches; bead embroidery; chain mail; and macramé) will not be considered for winners.

To enter, please send a clear, high-resolution TIF (better) or JPEG (good) photo of your stringing and/or simple wireworking project that is 300 dpi at 3″ x 5″ to stringing@interweave.com.

If you’re a talented, skilled jewelry designer working with iron, Lark Books needs you! We’re seeking high-quality images for the gallery section of Iron Wire Jewelry, to be released in Fall 2010.

Send us pictures of your best earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, or other creative jewelry showcasing your original designs and amazing skills. If you incorporate other materials like beads or resin, that’s great too, but make sure iron is the most prominent. Submission to the book is free.
