Cheat at Knotting Pearls

This is one of the first methods I learned for knotting between beads. Pearls, in particular, are good to knot with, and actually, due to their delicate nature, it is a good idea to knot between them. I learned this from an intensive jewelry making I class I took many years ago, and the instructor called it “the cheater’s way to knot.” If you’ve been wanting to try knotting, this might be a good first step. You can find instructions here: Knotting for Cheaters.
Finally a Pearl Bracelet

I realized I was sort of on a pearl earring trend there for awhile, so here’s something a little different but still in the pearl theme I’m doing this month: a Woven Pearl Bracelet project.
Since making my first one of these, I’ve made a number of them, sold them, given them as gifts, etc. A nice extra touch is to add a charm to the jump ring at the end that attaches to the spring ring clasp. It helps to keep the bracelet balance to that the clasp stays under the wrist, and it looks nice too.
Pearl Sale at FMG

Fire Mountain Gems has a pearl sale going on. You know how I love pearls!
One thing to remember when buying pearls that you don’t get to look at in person, if the price is low then the quality may also be on the low side. Now, I have bought some fabulous quality pearls from FMG, so don’t get me wrong here, but pearls can be tricky to purchase site unseen.
