The usual suspects, and my idol Tim Gunn

In a season that has been pretty low on drama (and some have said it’s been low on talent too, although I’m not sure I agree), it looks like last night and next week may be the pinnacle.

Francisco Costa, guest judge
Make an avant garde outfit based on the zodiac with an ousted former contestant as a partner? Ok, not my thing, but the results were fascinating!

Diane Von Furstenberg
Oh, the divine Ms Von Furstenberg! What a great challenge (finally) for the remaining designers. I felt a bit like Kenley…it almost made me tear up to think about this opportunity that they were getting. And for her to allow them free access (well, up to 10 yards, anyway) to any of her magnificent fabrics! It was hard to fathom why some of them (Suede, for example) picked what they did, and then wouldn’t even listen to Tim’s advice.

Leanne with her cart full of goodies
When are some of these folks going to learn to listen to Tim?!? Haven’t they watched previous seasons? I don’t believe that Tim tells the judges what’s going on in the workroom, but he does know them and what they like to see, for heaven’s sake! When I heard Keith say that he didn’t care about pleasing Tim, just the “#@$%ing judges”, I knew that he was gone!
So, what did you think of the challenge and the outfits? I thought the whole “making concept clothes from car parts” challenge was going to be a disaster after the grocery store fiasco, but apparently at least some people learned. I can easily see why Leanne’s outfit won, but my favorite had to be Jerell’s.

Leanne, the winner

Jerell, my favorite this time

Chris March with Kenley and Tim
Was anyone else disappointed that Chris March didn’t end up being a judge as well as a guest mentor? Not that I am opposed to Ru Paul, you understand. But I loved Chris last season, and I think he would have been a great judge as well.
Bye, Daniel, I’ll miss you! Not that I’ve liked anything you made since the first week when you went way out on a limb to construct that fabby blue dress out of plastic cups, but I’ll miss your slightly bewildered looks and last second sewing. Your dress was beautiful; I would have happily worn it. And that was the problem…I’m not a drag queen!

Daniel
I was torn between the winner and the runner up for this one. Many seem to feel that Terri got robbed…do you agree? As for Korto, she looked like she was almost crying in the back room. I don’t think that she realized that the judges kept her on stage as one of the best, not one of the worst!

Joe, the winner!
