Textured polymer clay pendant

Make Art Monday!

So, I’ve kind of gotten on a pendant kick lately, mostly because they work up so quickly that I thought you all might like some of them for potential holiday gift-giving! Here’s the latest one, and we’ll go over the how-to’s tomorrow!

I am very interested in working with polymer clay because I think it enables an artist to make very unique items that can be one of a kind. I am still in the stage of making items that are semi-imitation of various artists in the medium to learn how the clay can be used, but am hoping that I will find “my” expressive style soon. I am also interested in the pmc clays but am not ready to invest the money to go there at this time. I think that a combination of the two types of clay will be the end result of my learning curve eventually. I love the silver and the gold metal results but want to use colors also.

I think you’re smart to fool around with polymer clay first. Lots of the techniques are used for both polymer and metal clay, even though the two media feel and behave differently. Still, you can learn a lot using the less expensive medium. There are lots of wonderful artists who combine the two materials, so you’d be in good company!

  3. Ah, I love that fish pendant! Eventually I will get around to learning polymer clay, but for now, I’m content with my beaded jewelry designs. I always love to see what different mediums could do for jewelry. Thanks for the post Cyndi!

You don’t have to learn too much to make one of these pendants ;-) I’m not very well-versed in polymer clay myself!
