Project Runway, season 4

Is anyone really surprised? :-)

What really rocked me last night was how much more Christian’s collection looked like a…well, a “collection” than either Jillian’s or Rami’s. There was a coherent look to the entire show that just screamed his name.

Not that there was a single outfit he designed that I would personally ever consider wearing! As we’ve been saying all along, he is fabulously talented, and I expect that he is going to go far far far in this business. But he’s not a designer that will ever be on my list unless he ends up moving away from the 80’s inspired silhouettes and ruffles. I’m not saying this is a bad look…it just happens to be a bad look for me!

All of the clothing was amazing. Some of Jillian’s jackets and Rami’s dresses simply took my breath away. But as a collection, Christian’s rocked.

So did his attitude. Several times (and for long periods of time) he dropped the snotty act. He was a likeable 21-year-old kid young man who shared how much this whole experience has meant to him.

I know that some of the critics of this season felt that it lacked the drama of previous seasons, with no real villains or nasties to focus on, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. These are people who will continue to rub shoulders during their careers, and isn’t it better to have some basis for honestly liking each other? I mean, if you’re going to run a small business in, say, rural Virginia and never visit NYC or LA, then you can be as nasty as you want. But these folks will most likely enjoy seeing each other from time to time in the future. Don’t you think? Or do I have it totally wrong?

I agree whole-heartedly about both the collections and Christian’s attitude. It was refreshing to see something other than cockiness from him.

I also felt that Rami showed incredible grace in coming in second place. He will go very far too!

  2. Cyndi says:

I totally agree, Christina! I think all three of them have quite bright futures :-)

  3. Carrie says:

I don’t have cable and haven’t been able to catch this episode yet, but I was really mad at first to hear that he won….I HATE his attitude, he’s been a brat throughout the show…but to hear that he lost that is music to my ears…maybe I can start to like him now, can’t wait to watch tonight!!

  4. Cyndi says:

I think we saw a different side to Christian in this episode, Carrie. I think a lot of the brattiness has been posing, but brattiness nonetheless :-)

  5. Kathy Shields says:

Yikes, this is a new guilty pleasure for me and I rushed home last night after work (out at 9pm) and OH NO!!!! The finale wasn’t on. I went to the webpage to see if they changed the time and there it was – on at 7pm and the winner is…

    I was SO disappointed!

    But great show.

  6. Missa says:

I think Christian’s line, though quite over the top, was the best. Jillian’s and Rami’s collections were wearable and flattering, but Christian’s had that FIERCE je ne sais quoi. He will go a long way in the fashion industry. =-)

  7. Cyndi says:

    Well-put, Missa!

  8. JO says:

Christian is great! there’s only ONE word to describe him and that’s:

    FIERCE

    FIERCE

    FIERCE!!!!!!

  9. Cyndi says:

    LOL!!!

    YUP

    YUP

    YUP!!!

  10. I can say for sure that I wasn’t surprised. It was expected :) heh
