Be Frugal and Green with Morsbags Shopping Bags

Frugal is the new black, and green is the new gold. In both frugal living and environmental awareness, even little things go a long way. Take the plastic shopping bag for example.

According to Morsbags.com, more than 1 million plastic bags are used per minute all over the world. Most of these bags end up in landfills where they will stay for years and years. Some make it into wildlife habitats and cause the death of many animals.

There has been a drive going on worldwide to reduce the number of plastic bags being used in groceries. Many countries have already banned their use. Our local supermarket is even now offering its own reusable grocery bags.

If you make your reusable own shopping bags from old clothes, blankets, etc., you can save money while lessening your carbon footprint. Morsbag.com has instructions for making them, and has labels available for sale. The site also encourages forming pods of people to make morsbags for giving away. There’s even a Flickr group for photos of morsbags that people have already made.

I think I will make some using old throw pillow covers that I’ve been planning to replace anyway.
