Blog Action Day: Take a Stand against Poverty

Today is Blog Action Day, when bloggers everywhere discuss a single topic in an effort to raise awareness, start a global discussion and support a worthy cause. Even more, we as bloggers can do what little we can to make a difference.
This year’s topic is poverty. As keepers of our homes, what can we do to alleviate someone else’s suffering for lack of material resources?
Here are just some of the 88 suggestions from the Blog Action Day site:
- Eat meatless meals 2x a week. Donate the money you save to a local food bank.
- Collect canned food from your friends and neighbors to donate to the local soup kitchen or shelter.
- Before winter comes, look through your closet and donate winter clothes that you did not wear last year.
- Visit The Hunger Site every day and click the link there to help feed the hungry.
Take a stand against poverty. Even the smallest act makes a difference.

i do love the hunger site. will have to swing by it later.
i also turn to sites like freerice (rice donation), kiva (microfinance), and goodsearch (donation per search), as ways to help alleviate poverty online. i also put up their banners on my blog.

I also love thehungersite. I signed up for the email reminder for just the hunger site, and then (most days) I cycle through the tabs to click on all the sub-sites. In less than two minutes you can help six charities for FREE. It’s fantastic.
