Clean as You Go

I really don’t like the after dinner clean up. All the spills, dribbles, dishes, wiping things down, putting things away . . . you get the idea. This is why I clean as I go.

As I’m cooking, I try to keep up with what I’m using. When I’m done with an ingredient, I try to put it back. When I’m done with the mixing spoons, knives, or other dishes, I try to put them into the dishwasher or hand wash them.
I realize that some more complicated recipes don’t allow this type of clean up, but I try to clean before the meal time as much as possible. Then after dinner, I can finish up the little bit of cleaning that’s left, turn on the dishwasher, and spend time with the family.
Do you try to clean as you go?

I definitely clean as I go! To make it even easier, when I start the meal I fill my sink with hot soapy water. All dishes go in as they are used. While I’m waiting for something (simmering, baking etc) I load the now pre-rinsed dishes in the dishwasher or hand wash as needed.
The only drawback is my sink only has one side, and inevitably I fill the sink with soapy water when I’ve got pasta to drain!
