Hi Karen. I spent a week in mexico with my brother and he took me to where all the locals like to eat. I tasted pico de gallo for the first time and loved it. Can I make a lot of it and can it for later or is it best to make fresh each time.
Hi Ray. I have canned salsa before, but not pico de gallo. My concern is the process that the tomatoes need to go through before canning.
I have tons of doughboy items for sale some rare like my 4 foot stuffed doughboy to Christmas ornaments, Christmas decorations, canisters, cookie jars, platters, calenders, a cake mix from Russia and more rare stuff etc even a one of a kind framed picture done in colored pencils. If anyone is interested please email me with doughboy in the subject line and I can get you a list with prices. Most all of my stuff is from the Danbry Mint. Email me at vicki@converter.com
Thanks for the tips, I will keep in mind that more suds do not mean cleaner clothes next time I do laundry.
I have always have good luck with Duncan Hines cake mixes but was terribly disappointed with this one. Mine had a pungent flavor and it DID NOT RISE!!! My other ingredients for the cake were fine and I followed the directions to the letter. I only added the water that the raisins and carrots soaked in as directed, so I know it wasn’t that. I’m sure that this was just a glitch in the mix but I was highly disappointed in Duncan Hines.
Did anyone else’s cake taste bad and not rise? Or am I the only one?
Unfortunately, it sounds like you got an old mix. I’ve had this happen before and it’s really disappointing.
HI Karen,
I love all these ideas. The gourd turned into a flower vase is really pretty neat. I’m one of the Editor’s with FaveCrafts.com. If you would like other ideas on how to decorate a pumpkin, take a look at this article we’ve recently posted. http://www.favecraftsblog.com/how-to-decorate-a-pumpkin/
Enjoy!
Thanks!
Your ideas for fall decoration are great. One of my favorite fall centerpieces to make involves carving a small pumpkin, inserting an oasis (a piece of green sponge that holds a lot of water and keeps flower in place) and then creating a display of wildflowers inside the pumpkin.
Um Ewwwwww that is just gross – who knew. Now I am a bit freaked out.
I know. It’s so gross!
I too, was an active member of designmyroom.com and the Armstrong replacement is nothing like the original. I have never enjoyed a website so much in all my years online. Not only was it able to allow me to see how finished designs may look in my own room, I could purchase the items from the vendors who sponsored the site. I spent hours a week designing and I’m fortunate to have saved most of my designs, right before it closed shop. I’m very saddened that I can’t find another similar website out there.
wow thats awesome
Oh, I didn’t think to get a pic of the room. Just the light and pillow. LOL!!
That bed is something else!

I love the show but unfortunately I , and many other Christians , find Thom,s three favourite words offensive. Please replace it with ” Oh my allah ” for instance and see how the muslims react.I have great respect for spirituality and I urge you to keep up the great show and keep away from words that offend.
I live in the middle east and have many muslim friends.
I have a no food and no shoes on the carpet policy and it really does work our great! I do not need to vacuum as often and it stays cleaner and fresher longer.
I like to use Febreeze to keep my carpet smelling fresh. Thanks for the tips, I will keep these in mind as I always like to keep my carpets smelling fresh.
If you are going to install a low flow faucet aerator you should know they come in various gallon per minute flow rates. Most low flow rates start at 2.2 gallons per minute and go all the way down to .5 gallons per minute. You can find these at any local hardware store.
Definitely good ideas.
Great list of action items to save on heating bills. Storm windows and doors are money saves too.
HI! your page is very interesting, the recipes are very good. keep up the good work.
I am very impressed with this list. You’ve provided many exciting ways to infuse pumpkin into my autumn cooking. Thanks for the list.

Yum! I made a big pot of vegetable soup this weekend and it really hit the spot. I’m always trying to think of ways to sneak vegetables into my son’s diet without him protesting too much:-) He likes most fruit, but veggies, not so much.
These are such great ideas! I made these candy corn cupcakes: http://glammed.blogspot.com/2009/10/adventures-in-cooking.html
Those homemade Halloween lanterns would be easy to make and would look great as decorations.
Nice round-up you’ve featured, Karen. Thanks for referring to my post for those who may not celebrate some of these holidays and like to have a Harvest Festival instead of Halloween this time of year.
Thank you so much for including my posts on Hankering for Yarn, Karen! Most appreciated!
One year of nightly use for a pillow! I would bet the average use is 4-5 years or longer. Thanks for pointing out the recommendations!
Thank you, Karen for the link love!
This looks like a great list! Can’t wait to check everything out!!! Happy Halloween!
This blog will be missed! You have done one fabulous job at giving us great tips for the home. I can’t wait to see what you do next! You obviously have a passion for everything related to our homes and people want to hear what you have to share.
Yes, Yes, Little Fun, Little Learning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just finished buying a house that will be coming with a garbage disposal… for the first time and now I know what to do about keeping the kitchen fresh. Will be trying the idea of the vinegar and a soft cloth to keep the stainless sink shiny too!
I keep a bottle of strong vinegar water underneath the kitchen sink. The sink gets sprayed down before and after every use. I’m always amazed how much gunk white vinegar can take off a surface.
We have the washer the requires HE. Now we’re trying to find the best. Would love to try this.
