Finding a System for Cleaning the Floors

I have this issue with mopping my bathroom floors. I don’t like to use a mop because it seems like the floors don’t get as clean as I like them. When I hand mop the floor, I see all kinds of dirt and hair that the broom and mop did not get. I also see the dust on the cabinets, baseboards, and such and I end up wiping those down too. The problem is, I don’t hand clean my floor as often as I should because it takes so much longer. Basically, my preference for cleanliness is getting in the way of the cleanliness.

Today I finally decided that enough is enough. I needed to find some sort of system that works for me so that I can keep my bathroom looking better. I have decided that I will continue to hand mop the kids’ bathroom each week. It just grosses me out and I have to stick to that one. I will use the mop for the master bath and kitchen and then once each month I will hand mop those floors. This will help me to know that my floors are getting properly cleaned yet it will cut down on my cleaning time.
Do you hand mop your floors? What cleaning dilemmas have you solved in your home?

We have a steam cleaner with a floor attachment. We got it off ebay for about $70 and it has more than paid for itself. If there is something especially sticky I will use some Goo Gone on it (the spray gel, you can buy it here: http://www.magicamerican.com/googone/product/4c6f91c2-f920-446f-932e-821063ffa1a9.aspx), but generally the steam cleaner gets it every time. I also use it to keep the oven clean; only have to use chemicals once a year or so.
