Review and a Giveaway: Senseo Single Serve Coffee System

I’ve always liked to drink coffee, though I do it in moderation. One cup a day is my limit, and I switch between decaff and regular. With regular coffee brewing machines, it was always a hassle to brew a whole pot of coffee just to drink one cup.
Senseo has changed all that. This is the perfect system for single-cup coffee drinkers like me. It’s very easy to use, just pop in the pod and fill the reservoir with water. A perfectly-brewed cup of coffee is ready in minutes every single time. My sister-in-law and her husband tried it at my house, and had nothing but good things to say about it.
The different flavors of coffee pods only add to the great experience. They even have decaff!
I calculated the costs of using the Senseo system vs. buying a cup of coffee daily. A bag of 18 coffee pods is $4.50 at my local grocery, which means 25 cents per serving. So, one Senseo serving of coffee a day for a year totals $91.25. A Senseo coffee machine costs $70. All in all, that’s $161.25. It is cheaper than buying a freshly-brewed cup, even at $1, every day. After the first year, the expenses are really just about the coffee pods. Of course, if there are multiple coffee-drinkers in a home, it might still be best to buy coffee in bulk and make a pot for everyone to share.
