Roombas – Dress Them, Hug Them, Love Them!

Roombas are vaccum cleaners. High tech vacuum cleaners, yes, but still just glorified mops. But don’t say that to committed Roomba fans, who might beat you off with a broom. According to a study conducted at Georgia Tech’s College of Computing, some of them love these gadgets so much that they name them, call them “he” instead of “it”, and dress them. One ardent devotee even introduced the machine to his parents (as what, I wonder).

The whole gotta-love-your-Roomba phenomenon has sparked myRoomBud, a company dedicated to Roomba costumes. Here are just some of the ways you can dress up your Roomba.

Roobit the Frog, and Mooba the Cow:

Lucky the Ladybug (so cute!), and Roor the Tiger:

There does seem to be a qualifier to owning one of these dressed-up Roombas. myRoomBud asks whether you’ve ever:

  • named your Roomba?
  • talked to your Roomba?
  • spent more time watching your Roomba than it would take you to vacuum the room(ba)?
  • bought a second Roomba so your first would not be lonely?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, dressing up your Roomba (or your Scooba) won’t be far off. Hmm, I wonder if the Dyson sparks the same emotions in their owners.

If I didnt spend all my money on my yorkie Tilula, I would definately buy a roomba & dress it & probably become the worlds craziest roomba owner. If you use your spare time to dress a vacumm instead of killing people I think thats awesome.
