At first, I thought “simple” and “high-tech” don’t go together. How can a spage-age gadget be simple?

Well, it’s not the appliances that are simple. In fact, a great deal of research and development has gone into the making of each one. However, they do promise to make life simpler for the typically modern family, who’s said to spend more than 175 hours in the kitchen per month. They’re not just cooking either. There’s lots more to do in the kitchen these days. For most, it’s where people congregate and catch up. Of course, the coffee’s there too.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer has this list of technologies to make various kitchen tasks simpler:

  • Java Joy Machine
  • AeroGrow’s AeroGarden Kit (which I’ve talked about here and here)
  • Computers for creating your own cookbooks
  • Infrawave Speed Oven by Black and Decker (shown above)
  • The Perfect Rice cooker

Read about these gadgets here.
