The core of our lives will be reduced to the size of a shoebox.
- Linda Lewis Griffith (marriage and family therapist)
From all the stuff we accumulate, the most important things of all, those that future generations will want to keep, will fit inside a shoebox.
That’s the idea behind Linda Lewis Griffith’s goal of decluttering her house. Here are her six ways to get rid of clutter:
- Give things away while you are alive and well.
- Winnow down your belongings while you are well enough to do it.
- Separate items that belong to history.
- Pass along belongings to the next generation.
- Realize that most of our stuff is unimportant to the next generation.
- Recognize that you can’t keep it all.
