Keeping the Castle

Starbucks Copycat Coffee Cake

A few weeks ago, Amy at Mom Advice wrote about making a Starbucks Copycat Coffee Cake.  It looked so good that I had to give it a shot.  Let me tell you, the crumb topping has two sticks of butter in it.  Wow!  So, you know it has to be good and of course fattening!   ;)

I made the cake last week for our family and it was a hit.  It didn’t take long for us to gobble it up.  My hubby had a staff luncheon this week and I made another one for that.

This picture isn’t as pretty as Amy’s cake because I couldn’t find my sifter for the powdered sugar.  The sifter is packed away in a box somewhere.  I improvised with the second cake by using my reusable coffee filter as a sifter.  I feel a little smart for thinking of that one.  heehee  Too bad I didn’t take a picture of that cake.  It was so much prettier.

I’m sure you’re wanting to know where you can get this recipe.  It is posted at Picky Palate.  Word of advice – I would recommend cooking the cake for 20 minutes to make sure it is set before you add the crumb topping.

I hope you’ll enjoy this recipe.  It is definitely going in my recipe book!  It’s a keeper.
