Recycling Containers for Your Home

Recycling Containers for Your Home

Some folks don’t recycle because they feel it’s too much of a bother. Separating items in your home takes a little more time and can be messy. There are some attractive recycling containers out there which help to make recycling more organized and easier on the eye.

Mini Waste Hanging Basket – While this container isn’t the most attractive out there, it’s convenient and inexpensive. The hanging basket hooks on to the waste basket which makes recycling easier. This would be a convenient way to recycle at work. Simply throw your plastic bottles and paper into the hanging basket. At $4.51, it’s …read more

Finding a Closet Organization System

We just moved into our new home a few weeks ago and I’m still working on getting settled. This house has a pretty good amount of closets, but it’s needing some shelving and organizational materials to maximize the space.
One of my struggles is organizing the clothes in the bedroom that is shared by the two smaller children. We have future plans to turn some attic space into a fourth bedroom, but for now they’re sharing and I need to work with the space we have.

I hung up all of the hanging clothes, but I still had lots of pants and …read more

Under the Bed Storage, Part 3

Under the Bed Storage, Part 3

The hidden space under our beds provides a great place to keep things out of the way, yet easily accessible.  If you want to utilize your under bed storage, it’s best to choose containers that will work for your treasures.

I have stored shoes under the bed before, but I just put them into an under bed plastic tote.  This clear storage bag is made specifically for storing shoes.  It sells for $11.99, which I thought was reasonable.

Do you have any old dresser drawers? Better Homes and Gardens recommends converting them into under bed storage by using paint, harware, and casters. …read more

Under the Bed Storage, Part 2

Earlier this week, we began discussing different under the bed storage solutions.  One of the ways to get more storage is to use bed risers which is an inexpensive way to raise your bed to allow for more storage height.  There are also different types of storage containers for under the bed.  Today we’re going to discuss additional containers.

Instead of the normal under the bed plastic box, you could use a similar box that is soft sided and made of cotton.  Several years ago I purchased some of the cloth storage boxes.  Although they are an attractive solution, I liked the plastic …read more

Tackle it Tuesday: Switching Out Clothes

It’s that time of year. It’s time to swap out clothes.  I’ve been working on this little by little.  First I started taking out a few things that the kids didn’t wear very often or things the I knew wouldn’t fit them next year and adding a few short-sleeved shirts in their closets.  Now it’s time to finish the big task . . . and what a huge task it is!!!!

We just returned from mom and dad’s house a few days ago.  As usual, my friend had some clothes for my kids.  We really enjoy hand-me-downs.  The clothes are nice …read more

I get inspired to try out new ideas when I see them working in real life. That’s why I’ve started to get hooked on videos at Capessa.
Capessa features real advice from real women. Women who have been there, done that. Who know that organizing and organizing with kids are two different things. In this featured video, professional organizer, Deborah, shows us how she …read more
