Stocking Up For Next Year

I’m not quite ready to let Halloween go as of yet. This is the perfect time to hit the mall and pick up all of those Halloween decorations that you wanted for this year, but never got around to getting. Well you are in luck, prices I noticed just yesterday, have been slashed by at least 50% and at one card shop, all their Halloween goodies where marked down by 75%! Now you can’t sneeze at that! Grab what you can and stash it in the Halloween Box that I talked about yesterday.

Just have to tell you… I spotted the coolest Halloween coffee mugs at the dollar store. That’s another great place to pick up all your seasonal necessities.

Tomorrow, we turn our thoughts to making November the best November possible.

Back to School Deals at Staples

There are some great deals to be had at Staples until tomorrow, Wednesday, July 9, 2008. I went there tonight and found the following:

Dixon #2 yellow pencils, 8/pack, for 1 cent each (limit 2)

two-pocket paper folders for 1 cent each (limit 10)

1/2″ and 1″ poly assorted 3-ring binders, 25 cents each (limit 4)

150-sheet pack of notebook filler paper, 50 cents (may have limit)

I heard that 0.5 oz bottles of Purell hand sanitizer are also 1 cent each (limit 2), and that the limit for teachers is 25 of each penny item.

There aren’t any students in my home yet, but I use those notebook fillers a lot, so I stocked up.

According to Consumer Reports, it is possible to predict when certain items go on sale. There are general trends over the year for when you can save on major purchases.

The editors at Consumer Reports looked at industry surveys and publications to put together a calendar of deals. For June, you can expect to save some money on the following:

* Indoor furniture

* Small consumer electronics

* Summer sports gear

* Swimwear

While weekly store circulars are still a valuable source of information on where the deals are, this calendar could be something to keep in mind if you’re planning a large purchase in the next few months.
