It seems that anything that tastes good is loaded with fat, sugar, and calories. It takes a lot of self-discipline to make it through all of the temptations. This is why I like it when someone takes a recipe that is normally loaded with fat and tweaks it to make a healthier version.
I found a recipe at the Weight Watchers website for Layered Mexican Bean Dip. Mmmmm. That sounds like a cool, refreshing treat to eat this summer! Wouldn’t you like to take this dish to a summer party? Take along some veggies or baked tortilla chips and you could sit around eating …read more

I knew Martha Stewart had her own show, magazines, and website. I’ve also seen her on twitter, but it wasn’t until today that I discovered she has a blog.
On The Martha Blog, you’ll find more of her tips for gardening, entertaining, holidays, collecting, home, pets, giving, travel, and more. This week, she has posted some promised pictures of her honey bees. She discusses an issue with the bees not building the hives correctly and tells what the problem was the hive, and also gives 18 pictures for our viewing. After discovering The Martha Blog, I realized that it’s been around for a few years. …read more

I rarely get to watch television, so when I do I am amazed at some of the great shows out there. Last week while flipping channels I found Primal Grill with Steve Raichlen. Steve was grilling swordfish, onions, and bay leaves. He showed that you’re supposed to soak the bay leaves before grilling them to avoid burning the leaves. He also made a tasty sounding marinade for the fish. Of course, after watching all his grilling tips I had to see if a website existed. Indeed, it does!
Primal Grill website has many tasty sounding recipes. Primal Grill tells you how to make Kansas …read more

As a parent, I am concerned about the movies my children watch. I don’t have the time to screen each movie before they watch it, but I want to make sure what they’re watching is clean. I don’t want to be surprised by inappropriate language or sexual content.
Thanks to free resources such as Plugged -In Online and Kids-in-Mind, you can quickly check out a movie’s sexual content, violence, language, drug use, and more. Just this week a relative came over and wanted to know if my kids could watch Marley & Me. I said, “No way!” I pulled up Plugged In Online …read more

A few weeks ago, I made a quiche for supper. It was so good that I thought I’d make it again this morning for church. I got out my ingredients and began my preparation, but then realized I didn’t have any spinach. This was a major set back, but I hurriedly scoped the internet for a new recipe. I was delighted to find a website that has a whole list of quiche recipes from Bed & Breakfasts and Inns.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy this site, 1st Traveler’s Choice Internet Cookbook. I made the no crust quiche and I substituted ham for bacon. …read more
