I would like there to be a site where you can punch in the upc, to see whether it falls into the 'lead paint' controversy. My daughter has two toys from her birthday that I don't want her to open, as I am not sure if they are supposed to be recalled. Please let me know if there is a site to check the upc. Thanks.

I went to the Mattel's website and found that I have some of the recalled products but the websites says that only affects products sold after May 1, 2007.

So what happened prior May 1, 2007.
It wasn't tested?
I found very difficult to believe that is a brand new never happened before issue. Chinese factories have a long story of lowering their cost using any mean available if anything I believe that now a days they are much safer than ever before.

And how about Walmart? They always forced their suppliers into become low cost at any cost.

I found that this issue shows how US companies have a criminal disregard for to the end user's safety even if the end users are children.

This isn't surprising knowing that many factories use children to build the products. I always said children making toys for children.
