Many ordinary household items have more than one use. WD-40, a multi-purpose lubricant and cleaner, is gaining a fan club for its hundreds of applications. Here are 20 that I’ve managed to find.
Use a spray of WD-40 to:
1. Keep wicker chairs from squeaking
2. Clean and keep garden tools rust-free
3. Remove water spots from mirrors
4. Loosen stubborn zippers
5. Lubricate bike rims for easy tire removal
6. Clean and lubricate sliding glass door tracks
7. Clean fiberglass bathtubs
8. Remove tea stains from countertops
9. Removes crayon from carpet, shoes, toys, walls and wallpaper
10. Use to loosen rusty nuts and screws
11. Remove tape marks from the wall where posters are hung
12. Prevent mud and clay from sticking to shovels
13. Remove coffee stains on floor tiles
14. Keep hose ends from corroding
15. Remove stickers and decals from cars and bikes
16. Remove old cellophane tape
17. Remove petroleum stains from clothing
18. Keep sewing needles from rusting
19. Cleans chrome fixtures in bathrooms
20. Remove oil, tar, grease and gum from soles of shoes
These uses were submitted by consumers and have not been officially tested by the manufacturers of WD-40. Always exercise caution and follow the instructions printed on the packaging.
