Keeping the Castle

Wordy Wednesday: Rescuing a Baby Chick

A few months ago, we had a bird that built a nest along the outside of our house.  The problem is that she built it in a bad location.  She found a small opening along the under side of the roof (sorry, I don’t know the terminology) where the vinyl wasn’t properly together.  She build her nest up there and the weight of her nest and little chicks caused the hole to expand a little and some of her chicks fell out of the nest.  We were too late with the first chick.  We did not find her in time.  The second one was more fortunate.  We found her and gave her to our landlord.  They cared for the bird until it was big enough to release.

I thought you might enjoy these pictures and I’m also hoping you can tell me what kind of bird this is.

So, what do you think?  Do you know what kind of bird this is?
