You Did What With Your Socks??

I always seem to have left over socks hanging around our house, so it just made sense to find things to do with them. So I did lol…
1. Fill it with rice or beans and then tie off the top with an elastic band. It makes a really good hot pad for aching shoulders.
2. Dust with them. Dusting is boring enough as it is so buying something to do the job seems like a waste of money. Seeing that I’m the resident shopaholic around here, I have no problems finding things to buy. But, boring isn’t a word that fits very well into my vocabulary.
3. Fill it with lavender from your garden and turn each sock into a scented sachet for your drawer. And just in case you are wondering, lavender is incredibly easy to grow and there is just soooo much you can do with it.
4. Those cute little baby socks that your little bundle of joy has grown out of… keep them to hang on the Christmas tree. My little bundle has grown up to have the biggest feet and that little sock hanging on the tree never fails to bring about a laugh. It’s hard to believe that they were once that little!
5. If you aren’t worried about how it will look, slip one over your morning cup of coffee to keep it hot. I’ve been told that I would never last at a job that gives 15 minutes for a coffee break. I can stretch a cup of coffee out to at least an hour. No, I’m not kidding. But I had to find a way to keep it warm.

My husband laughed at me when we were first married and I took out my “hot pad”, aka- hot rice sock. That’s actually what we call it, the “hot rice sock”. He’s used to it now, and they are so easy to do when the rice is worn out or the whole thing gets lost. Love it!
I never thought of using them as dusters, although it makes perfect sense. You can follow curves with a sock and hand better than a feather duster or those dry duster wipes things.
great tips. i like the sachet idea.
I seem to have enough old socks to take care of the entire neighborhood. The thing that I’m running out of is socks to actually wear! lol
