buffalo china

This is an antique teacup that I have in my collection. Actually, I imagine it was a coffee cup. Seems to be a little heavy for tea. Anyway..it is Buffalo China, from 1911. Just wanted to share. :)

buffalo china 1911

I love how they decorated the inside as well. It has a picture of a Buffalo on the bottom and is stamped with Buffalo China Company Viterous China 1911. I think it is cool.

rosie the robot

Remember Rosie from the Jetsons? Well maybe it will soon be a reality. I was reading a post by Shayna Glick, at Slashfood, about a coffee making robot. I could use one of those this morning.

It pays to read Motley Fool, by the way. How else would I know that on Tuesday (THIS COMING TUESDAY 2/26), Starbucks will close all company-operated stores in the U.S. from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. In that time, Starbucks will train 135,000 employees to sling better espresso drinks.

If you live around Olympia, then you might want to check Olympia Coffee Roasting Company’s Roasting Works shop at 108 Cherry St. in downtown Olympia. The Olympian Online says that the shop will offer free coffee to customers from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to take advantage of Starbucks’ planned three-hour closure for espresso training. Pretty smart..but if they were really smart they would read Motley Fool so they would know that the Starbucks stores will be closed from 5:30-9:30, not 3:30-6:30. Maybe they will read Kettle and Cup?

Apparently Dunkin Donuts is getting in on the Starbucks Free For All on Tuesday..

To capitalize on the closing, Dunkin’ Donuts is designating the day as a National Espresso Open House. From 1 to 10 p.m., the chain will sell espresso-based products for 99 cents.

Add Cafe Vita to that list if you are near one.It is beginning to feel like Roller Derby. Who will win? Hey, maybe I will set out in the back of Marc’s truck and sell cups of my coffee in the parking lot. What do ya think? I think you could just about walk in to a Taco Bell and get free coffee on Tuesday.

Policemen are still an awesome bunch..Check this out. This cop bought a suspect a coffee to warm him up..now that is NICE.

So… Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante is going into the coffee business. Let’s just hope he stays away from brownies.

I don’t even need to link to anything to say this..you do know coffee prices are headed up? Personally this will not make a difference to me because I would rather drink one cup a day of really good coffee than 10 cups a day of cheap stuff…But if you are addicted to caffeine you may want to start cutting back on your intake now.

At An Anthology of Thoughts there is a thoughtful post called Life Happens Over Coffee

maytag repair man

O.k..then..That’s it for today. Hey, do me a favor. I kinda feel like the maytag repair man. There seem to be a ton of tea blogs out there but few coffee blogs. If you come across any send me the link at maudet8816ATaolDOTcom. I would appreciate it.

That is so neat, I live not far from the Buffalo China plant. Oneida[sp?] owns it now.

Really? That is cool. I love that area of New York. I would move to upstate if I could….

Oh LOL. Why is Starbucks advertising their training? Why not do it during closed hours? They DO close, don’t they? They can drink espresso to stay awake.

I guess they figure sales are slumping because the espresso is lacking. Actually, I have avoided them because I know they gave me caf instead of decaf on a few trips. This is local, of course, but I CAN taste the difference. Plus, caffeine gives me eyelid twitches. I do promise it does.

What do you think? Can you taste caffeine? Since I don’t normally drink it I think I can.

  4. Marye says:

I can..which is why I dont like Decaf. Funny how you develop a taste for things.. MArc agreed that I should take our carafe and set up outside Starbucks on Tuesday and sell coffee by the cup. I could take pictures, interview people and then blog it…
