Bigelow Tea Appreciates Troops

My oldest son is in the Air Force. At this point I have not seen him since June, 2008 and it looks like it will be March 2010 before I see him again. To say that I miss him is an understatement. To say that I am proud of him is absolutely the biggest understatement ever. He has been stationed in Utah, Alaska, Iran, and northern Japan. He will be spending 6 months in Kuwait soon…He is seeing the world, and doing what his dad and I raised him to do. Follow the call on his life. Be part of something bigger than himself. Be willing to sacrifice for something amazing.
One of my other amazing children, Erin, took this picture when he was home on leave. He is adored.

It is wonderful to see your children walking in ways that you always hoped and prayed that they would. At the same time it is hard to have someone so dear to you so very far away for so long. You wonder if people are being nice, if your child (even if he is an adult) is being treated well. Sometimes you fight wanting to do violent acts to those who are less than positive about the military.
So, when companies send me press releases about what they are doing to make the lives of the servicemen and women better I don’t ever delete. They are blessing my son and so they are blessing me.
All of my kids love tea. Some like coffee a little better, some don’t. Chris likes tea in many forms. He always has. Sending him unique teas, or comfort teas? He is always appreciative. Well Bigelow Tea is sending their American Classic tea overseas, as well as to airports where the troops are coming in or going out to the Middle East.
The American Classic is grown on a Charleston tea plantation that the company bought in 2003. The Bigelow company ended the email with this:
To our troops and their families: “We thank you and we are proud of you!”
Here is a video that tells more about it.

He’s such a handsome young man. Wow, that’s a long time not to see him. I can hope and pray with you that the opportunity to have a great visit will be sooner than 2010. Companies that provide comfort in any small way to our servicemen and women are to be commended. Thanks for letting us know!
thanks Vee. I hope so but I doubt it. He will not ge tto come home until Kuwait is over. BUT what an opportunity!
My boyfriend is in the Marines and I completely relate to everything you are saying. I think I will try to do more posts about dealing with servicemen and women being deployed because it is a huge issue in our society right now. And I definitely sent him lots of tea in his care packages!
where was he stationed Kelli?
I wish that more companies would do things like that. I’ve noticed a few coffee companies with similar activities, but it seems to only be a minority of them.
yep. ANd it seems like sometimes some companies do it for the exposure. This was awesome to me.
