Cafe Latte in Town East Mall, Mesquite Tx

About once every six weeks I drive up to Mesquite to Towne East Mall to get my hair done at Tony and Guys. That has nothing to do with coffee but it does explain what I was doing there and how I found Cafe Latte, right?

Usually Ethan (not quite 16) and I go. We get haircuts and then head to the Starbucks in the mall for coffee. Except…a few months ago Starbucks pulled out of the mall. So, we got haircuts but went coffee-less. So sad.
Well, Ethan and I were strolling around the mall and all of a sudden he said (with great excitement), “Mom! Look! Coffee!”
Sure enough, there in all of it’s caffeinated glory was a coffee shop. It beckoned us. We caved.
Cafe Latte is an indy coffee shop. That makes me like it right away. It was clean and welcoming, with a couple of really comfortable looking chairs…which we snagged. Ethan had a carrot cake muffin and a chai latte and I had a caramel macchiato with english toffee syrup. Sweet tooth? Not me.
Anyway, the prices were very good. They had what we like to call “for here” cups – the real coffee mugs. Because of my touch sensitivity I can’t drink from throw-away cups and so I can’t go to a coffee shop that doesn’t have the real ones.
Ethan’s chai latte was a little diluted, I thought. Good overall but I would have liked it to have a little more body. My macchiato was good, although again…the coffee could have been a bit stronger.
If you are in the Mesquite-Balch Springs-Lancaster- Seagoville area and you like independent coffee shops then this is definitely worth a try. I don’t think they have been there long and it would be great to support something that isn’t run by a corporate machine.
Sorry…didn’t have my camera with me so no images of the shop.

You need to carry an emergency mug in your car for just such occasions. I sometimes bring my hot drink container into Starbucks and get it put straight into that.
I know, right?
