Coffee Flavored Beer

I read this and I was like, “You can’t be serious, Dude! Seriously!”
Apparently they are serious. Microbrewed beer is an up and coming artisan trend and apparently beer tastings are on the increase. You take a sip, you swish and spit..and then turn to your companion and say sagely, “sparkling and effervescent, I detect chocolate notes with a nutty finish”.

If you always say that I think you are o.k. It is a code or something.
Anyway, so I was reading along and trying not to work when I read this article about coffee flavored beer. I knew you would want to know.
You realize that coffee flavored beer is the product of the 70’s drug culture growing up, making money, and retiring. Yes..from the same people that brought you brownies laced with marijuana we have…coffee flavored beer…at your local grocers now.
We always were a lazy bunch…brownies were created so that you could get high and vanquish the munchies at the same time. Now you can get plastered and buzzed all at once…
I could say more but…why?
Read it. Come to your own conclusions. Make humorous comments. I mean, that IS what we are all about here at Kettle and Cup, isnt it?

It’s a waste of perfectly good coffee I tell ya. Beer is vile stuff.wine is good, mixed drinks are yummy …sometimes…..beer yuck! It smells bad too!
Leave my coffee unadulterated!!!!
Besides clumsy and hyper can’t be a good thing!
Actually, my real response was to burst out laughing. So much so, that family members came out of the wood work to find out what was so funny. and no , the non drinkers ( of both coffee and beer) did not find it so funny.
You know, Ginger, making you laugh…well that is a good thing.
On the other hand, I’m thinking that it’s a waste of a perfectly good beer. I don’t believe in mixing my drinks.
LOL Vee…I just don’t know…sort of like green tea vodka… health infusion for alcoholics? Just not sure about some of these concoctions.
One of our local brews – Butte Creek Organic – has a beer with a coffee note. It’s surprisingly good. I’m a beer lover, though.
Michelle,
I can’t imagine the flavor. But..I have had cherry beer that was nice ..so I can imagine that it might be good.
You know, I guess I should be kinder about beer. I never developed a taste for it. My first BIG exposure to it was as a teen at a UCLA frat party while I was in high school. Honesty the whole frat house reeked in a bad way. That really turned me off. I knew I’d get busted by my parents if I smelled like that…so I never even went that way. Plus I was anorexic back then….and, oh my, the calories!!!!
Now ONE time I once I was of age when visiting my parents, the temps were up to 105 and I had a beer. When the beer is extremely cold and the air extremely hot it definitely cooled me off without the drying of the mouth that soda brings.
I can totally see how someone who drinks it and likes it wouldn’t want coffee in it.
beer does have a ton of calories. I never really liked beer until I started drinking imports and dark ales. SOme of the artisan microbrewed stuff is nice…but I only ever want a few sips and then the whole bottle goes to waste.
OH you’ve got to check it out Marye. Since I used to barista in the local coffee house (the Keen Bean) I still hang out there quite a bit. The owner turned me on to their newest beer – a lovely coffee beer. It’s kind of a dark beer, and you don’t taste the coffee up front – it tastes like beer, and then you get this after taste of coffee when you swallow it. I really liked it.
hmmm..still not sure ont hat one Heather.
