It’s Not Easy Being Green

Scientists have found that an extract of green tea rubbed onto the skin may protect against UV damage.

UV rays are those harmful rays that cause sunburn and skin cancer.  Apparently the polyphenols protect the skin when rubbed on it in a low dose.

The problem seems to be that the extract discolors the skin.  So you can have healthy skin, and enjoy the sun all you like…but you will look a bit like Kermit the Frog while doing so.

When I read the article I was confused because it seemed to me that it said that there was not a significant difference between the placebo area and the green tea area yet scientists were still claiming it protected.

I dunno.  Look like Bob the Tomato…Look like Kermit the Frog… almost too hard to choose!
