Java Pop..Coffee SODA?

javapop

I don’t often drink cokes anymore.

Now, when I say that you have to understand that cokes is a generic word for sweet, fizzy drinks.  Here in Texas you go to the Whataburger, and they will ask what kind of coke you want.  Dr Pepper? Root Beer? Cola? Sprite?

So, I have the occasional Italian Soda but nothing more than that..usually.  I am addicted to ice water. I drink gallons of it a day.  I seriously carry around a quart mason jar and keep it filled with ice water at all times.  I have a 5-6 lb a day ice habit.

Yes..I am anemic. Yes I know that chewing ice is a sign of anemia. Yes, I know it is bad for my teeth.

All righty then.

Cokes seem very sweet to me.  However, I saw the Java Pop and I was curious.  It is organic, Fair Trace and the coffee used is Green Mountain. I thought..Hmm..why not? I grabbed the mocha flavor (there are several flavors) and chilled it to perfection.

Ewww. I would not drink it on a train, I would not drink it in the rain.  I would not drink it on a boat, I would not, could not with a goat.

I did not like it.  The chocolate part of the mocha had a weird chemically taste, like it wasn’t real chocolate.  It was sweet. not overly sweet but the aftertaste was not great either.

SO, if you want something cold and fizzy…have a coke.  Whatever kind you prefer.

I LOVE Coffee. I might have to try this – somehow I just don’t think it would have quite the same comfort that coffee does.

  2. Marye says:

I love coffee too, Gayla..but this isn’t it..Now, they DO have an espresso flavor which I might have to try. It was the chocolate in this that was weird.

The new Coke Blak is kind of delicious-gross, with vanilla undertones. There used to be this Java-Cola barfness that was really just cold coffee and cola, but the more you drank the more you had to drink. It was like liquid crack.

I love the Coke Blak, Raych. I think it is addictive. Especially with a scoop of coffee ice cream..not that I would ever do that.

Too funny! I’ve never even heard of this type of coke and I live in So. California but then, everyone here gets their fix at Starbuck’s…YUK! I do have to confess that on occasion I’ll go through the drive thru for a Java Chip Frappachino but that’s it!
Marye, do you have starbuck’s in Texas? If not, you’re not missing out.
Hey, thanks for the comment on my other blog. The Gingerbread blog is my primary blog. The Pinkie Tea’s is actually a group of women that get together and have tea. We were going to start our own “tea society” but life threw me a few curves and it was placed on the back burner so to speak. The blog-a-thon has been a lot of fun, don’t you think?
I hope you have an absolutely wonderful day!
    God Bless,
    Cori

Good morning, Marye! Such a great post…. I too for the most part prefer plain ol’ water! ;)

    Have a wonderful day!

  7. Marye says:

We do have starbucks, Cori, but I am not big on it. Marc and I go to spend time together in the quiet because we live in a madhouse.

Ivory..always good to see you. Thank you.

I have never heard of it, but it sounds interesting.

  9. Marye says:

    That’s what I thought. :)

That coffee soda sounds disgusting. I don’t like sweet coffee at all. Where on earth did you find it?

  11. Ginger says:

coffee soda …and you actually tried it. Very brave, Marye.

Generally I only have one cold coffee drink that I’ll drink. I will get an iced caramel macchiato (nonfat because anything else is too heavy when it is hot out.)

It’s not so much for the taste, but because it is very pretty to look at.

If it’s hot out and I need caffeine it works for me.

Frappicino’s make me feel like I am having a milkshake instead of coffee.

I found this stuff in Big Lots (all the weird stuff is there). I went for the Hazelnut thinking the Mocha would be strange, and it’s not great but it’s not _bad_ at all.

  13. Ben says:

Found the Hazelnut flavor at Job Lot in Bangor, ME for $1/4-pack. I liked it so much I went back and bought 6 more packs. Hopefully when I finish they’ll still have some.
