Lavazza Coffee, The Landmark Restaurant, and Me

I have made Lavazza at home but the coffee I had yesterday at the Landmark Restaurant in Dallas was amazing. I like amazing coffee, don’t you?
The aroma was intense. The coffee itself was so dark that you can see Marc’s reflection in my cup, and the crema on top was perfect.
The minute I tasted the cofee I knew it was Italian roast, one of my favorites. I asked the head waiter and he confirmed it, and said, “Lavazza”. Magical words in the coffee world, don’t you think?
The coffee had a rich mouth feel, syrupy. The flavor was winey with initial notes of fig and secondary notes of tobacco. It was very smooth with no acidic aftertaste, just smooth, mellow flavor.
Since we sat there chatting until well after the dining room closed there was no more coffee when I asked for a refill but the staff kindly made me a pot in the French press. I was absolutely delighted because the pressed coffee gave me more depth of flavor and complexity in the cup. The caramel mid-notes that I hadn’t noticed before were very apparent in the pressed cup.
I highly recommend getting Lavazza beans and pressing it. And if you get ot Dallas, head to the Warwick Melrose.
